The following is a statement from Coalition for Life St. Louis Executive Director Brian Westbrook regarding an emergency vehicle sighting at the Planned Parenthood of the Greater St. Louis Region on Friday, May 13, 2016
*******FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**********
Medical Emergency at Planned Parenthood Clinic
At approximately 2:56 PM on Friday, May 13, 2016, Ben Gruender, Outreach Strategist for Coalition for Life St. Louis, witnessed and recorded an ambulance arriving at the Planned Parenthood of the Greater St. Louis Region clinic on Forest Park Ave.
Paramedics exited the ambulance and entered the clinic. At approximately 3:05 PM, the same paramedics exited Planned Parenthood with a stretcher. The stretcher’s occupant was covered by a white sheet from head to toe, and two Planned Parenthood employees walked in front of the stretcher with a large white banner, in an attempt to block the victim from public view. Paramedics loaded the stretcher into the back of the ambulance, then returned to the front, leaving the victim in the back and sitting in Planned Parenthood’s parking lot for six minutes before driving away at 3:12 PM.
As of the release of this statement, Planned Parenthood has declined to comment on the presence of the ambulance at their facility.
Gruender described the attitude of Planned Parenthood employees present at the scene as “casual”.
“It seemed very uneventful to them,” Gruender said. “Like it happened every day. It felt like they were packing up a box of merchandise.”
This is not the first time Planned Parenthood of the Greater St. Louis Region patients have left in an ambulance. This sighting is the latest of 31 recorded sightings since 2009, and 3 within the past year. The dates of those sightings are listed here:
