St. Louis, MO – More than 70 members of the St. Louis community joined together for the 40 Days for Life kickoff event at St. Francis Xavier (College) Church on Saturday, February 21, 2009.

The Rally began and ended in prayer facilitated by Father Tim Henderson. Amy Martin from Silent No More was the featured speaker. Detective Clayborn, Officer Kavanaugh and Officer Irons from the St. Louis County Police Department spoke to those in attendance about vigil conduct and where those at the vigils could legally stand to pray. Kathy and Mike Miloshewski provided the music for the event to get everyone energized.

“The rally was the kickoff to 40 days of prayer and fasting, as well as various types of community outreach. We couldn’t have asked for a better turnout for our first 40 Days for Life campaign rally. We look forward to seeing what kind of transformation God will bring about in our city,” said Thompson.

40 Days for Life is an intensive pro-life campaign that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, 40 days of peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and 40 days of grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history where God brought about world-changing transformation in 40-day periods. St. Louis is one of the many communities from coast to coast conducting simultaneous 40 Days for Life campaigns from February 25 through April 5.

At the rally, Brian Westbrook, co-director for the St. Louis 40 Days for Life campaign, announced that in addition to the vigil at the Planned Parenthood facility at 4251 Forest Park Ave, St Louis, MO 63108, 40 Days for Life would have several billboard signs in the St. Louis area. These should be going up in the next few days at or near the following locations: Highway 70 northbound leaving St. Louis City, Highway 70 westbound in St. Charles County, Highway 55 Northbound heading into St. Louis City near the Anheuser Busch Brewery, Interchange of Lindbergh and Page and Highway 44 Westbound just west of Highway 141.

“By adding the billboards to our campaign effort, we hope to bring even more awareness to 40 Days for Life and the lasting damage abortion can cause” said Westbrook.
